From the outside looking in, it might seem an odd proposition. The Laya Arena is on the precipice of breathing new life into the old RDS. Leinster are returning home. The supposed apathy that set in with home games at The Aviva was to be - generally - no more. A more fitting home, an exciting development. So why open the door of their new home, only to have fans shimmy their way to Lansdowne Road so soon after moving home?
A two-year redevelopment, a much lauded effort. On time. On budget. We know the sound bites. We probably like them a little too. The match in question will take place on Saturday the 24th of October with an early evening kick-off at 18:00. Last year the same fixture took place in Croke Park, the home of the GAA. 52,000 fans found their way all the way over to the north-side. That number would be almost bang on the nose of the capacity of the Aviva.
